St Malo – one week of sailing

The boat

11 th June 2010 Until now we sailed on lakes and waterplassen, but never into the open sea. We had a boat on lake Chivero  in Zimbabwe, which would bring us in safely before dark, and after a beer I would roll it home on a trailer.  Sarah and Sebastien had a 10 days course in Holland, but we never done the big stuff. We decided to go for the full initiation: 6 days at sea, full navigation training, reading maps, weather etc…. and bunking in narrow and wet boat.

Life on board

Thanks to our friends Yann and Alice in Brittany the trip was great and a whole new experience for the family (minus Maxi).

We spent 6 days sailing on the North Sea,around the channel islands  sometimes in very sunny weather, but not always.  Life on board was very basic but fun. The skipper was not very happy when we blocked his toilet…

For Sarah, part of the fun was the fashion display

Sebastien was the only obe who was steering straight.....
