The ‘Maniok’ 0r casava project on our Defence Colony rooftop terrace was one of our most successful undertakings here in India.
Mamy Kin literally smuggled them in from Zimbabwe, wrapped in brown paper as if they were a walking stick. The next morning she planted them in pots and they have never stopped growing since. For one year we tried togrow everything on there but all the Indian plants get burned and are too weak to survive the dry season,… only the African maniok thrive. Every week we had an African Dish with the leaves from the rooftop.Green Fingers
